在一九四二年，我們曾經把解決人民內部矛盾的這種民主的方法，具體化為一個公式，叫做「團結——批評——團結」。講詳細一點，就是從團結的願望出發，經過批評或者鬥爭使矛盾得到解決，從而在新的基礎上達到新的團結。按照我們的經驗，這是解決人民內部矛盾的一個正確的方法。

This democratic method of resolving contradictions among the people was epitomized in 1942 in the formula "unity, criticism, unity". To elaborate, it means starting from the desire for unity, resolving contradictions through criticism or struggle and arriving at a new unity on a new basis.
